Our Story

Three decades of creating unforgettable moments on the lake

The Journey So Far

1987 - The Beginning

Started as a modest 12-room lakeside inn. Margaret and Thomas Glaiv had this wild dream of turning an old fishing lodge into something special. Nobody thought they'd pull it off, but here we are.

1995 - Expansion Era

Added the west wing with 30 premium suites. Guests kept asking for more rooms, so we listened. That year we also planted the garden that's still blooming today.

2003 - Wellness Revolution

Opened our full-service spa after visiting wellness retreats across Europe. We knew our guests needed more than just a comfortable bed - they needed genuine restoration.

2012 - Fine Dining Arrives

Launched Reflections Restaurant with Chef Antoine. He's still with us, still creating magic with local ingredients, and still arguing about the perfect temperature for butter.

2018 - Eco-Conscious Upgrade

Complete renovation with sustainability at heart. Solar panels, water recycling systems, and locally-sourced everything. The lake's been good to us - time to give back.

2025 - Today & Tomorrow

Now a 78-room luxury retreat that still feels like home. We're planning new adventure programs and expanding our wellness offerings because standing still isn't our style.

Margaret and Thomas Glaiv

The Folks Who Started It All

Margaret was a nurse who dreamed of creating a healing space. Thomas was a carpenter who could build anything you could sketch on a napkin. Together? They were unstoppable.

Back in '87, this property was basically falling apart. Roof leaked, floors creaked, and the dock was held together by hope and rusty nails. But they saw potential where everyone else saw problems.

Margaret always said she wanted guests to leave feeling lighter than when they arrived. Not just rested - actually lighter in spirit. That's still our guiding principle, even though she's retired now and spends most of her time kayaking on the very lake she's loved for almost 40 years.

What Drives Us Today

We're not trying to be the biggest or the fanciest. We just wanna be the place where you actually relax. Where your shoulders drop, your jaw unclenches, and you remember what it feels like to just... be.

Every decision we make - from the thread count in the sheets to the temperature of the pool - comes back to that simple question: Will this help someone feel better?

The People Making It Happen

We've got an incredible crew who genuinely care about making your stay memorable

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Been running things here since 2015. Started as front desk staff and worked her way up because she's just that good. Sarah knows every guest by name and somehow remembers if you prefer extra pillows.

Executive Chef

Chef Antoine Dubois

Came from Montreal in 2012 and never left. Antoine's passionate about local ingredients and will drive 2 hours to get the right mushrooms. His duck confit is legendary, and yes, he's as intense as you'd expect a French chef to be.

Maya Patel

Maya Patel

Trained in Bali and brought those healing vibes back home. Maya's built our wellness program from scratch and has this uncanny ability to know exactly what treatment you need before you even know yourself.

Chief Concierge

James Rodriguez

Local guy who knows Vancouver like the back of his hand. Need concert tickets to a sold-out show? James has a contact. Looking for that secret hiking trail? He's been there twice. He's basically a wizard in a suit.

We're Always Looking for Good People

If you're passionate about hospitality and wanna work somewhere that actually values you, we should talk. We offer solid benefits, real training, and a team that's got your back.

Why We Do This

Look, running a hotel isn't easy. There are easier ways to make a living. But there's something pretty special about creating a space where people can disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with themselves.

We've seen marriage proposals on our dock, families reuniting after years apart, and business deals sealed over breakfast. We've watched stressed-out executives rediscover their laugh, and anxious couples find their calm.

That's the real reward - not the awards on the wall or the five-star reviews (though we'll admit those feel pretty good too). It's knowing that we're part of people's happiest memories.
